WAHTS In Action:
Oregon ARNG
Hearing tests often create bottlenecks in military occupational health programs. With WAHTS, however, the Oregon Army National Guard efficiently tested 150 soldiers in under four hours—achieving a rate of 50 soldiers per hour in the first two hours using a setup of just 12 WAHTS units. Each test averaged seven minutes, and data was seamlessly imported into DOEHRS by an on-site team member.
WAHTS has become the preferred solution for hearing and fit testing across numerous military branches, including the U.S. Army, Navy, Army National Guard, Air National Guard, Army Corps of Engineers, and more.
U.S. Army Fort Huachuca
Recent experiences at U.S. Army Fort Huachuca underscore the critical role of hearing protector fit testing (HPFT) in military settings. Implementing HPFT has led to improved detection of improperly fitting devices, allowing audiologists to recommend the most effective protection options for each service member. This individualized approach—accounting for differences like ear canal variations—ensures that all personnel receive optimal protection.
This shift toward proactive hearing protection marks a significant cultural change within the military. Service members are now more informed and engaged in their hearing health, recognizing that proper use of hearing protection devices (HPDs) is essential for operational effectiveness. Fit testing strengthens this culture by making hearing protection a more interactive and personal experience, reinforcing the value of well-fitted HPDs.
As the DoD expands its HPFT requirements, WAHTS Hearing is ready to support military readiness with high-quality, customizable hearing protection solutions. Together, we can enhance the safety and performance of our service members, equipping them to face future challenges without the risk of noise-induced hearing loss.
