Audiometric
testing

Audiometric testing, also known as an audiometry test or hearing test, evaluates a person’s ability to hear sounds. It can also assess hearing thresholds and detect the type and severity of hearing loss. Audiometric testing can be used for a variety of purposes, including monitoring employee hearing, assessing hearing loss, and educating employees.

Over 22 million workers in U.S. are exposed to dangerous noise at work every day. Hearing protection and regular hearing screening are federally mandated. Current solutions are costly in lost time and inefficient practices. It is projected that over 50 million Americans will have hearing loss by 2030. Hearing loss leads to higher direct care expenses and negative health consequences including increased risk of falls and dementia. Providing audiometric testing and education with WAHTS helps employers meet hearing needs of employees.

Monitoring Employee Hearing
Audiometric testing can be used in safety-sensitive industries to monitor employees’ hearing over time and protect them from hearing loss caused by loud noises.
Assessing Hearing Loss
Audiometric testing can help patients who have hearing loss determine the type and severity of their hearing loss, which can help an audiologist recommend treatments like hearing aids or cochlear implants.
Educating Employees
Audiometric testing can also provide an opportunity for employers to educate employees about their hearing and how to protect it.

How it works:
hearing testing with WAHTS

During the WAHTS audiometric test, sounds play through headphones to each ear, one at a time, while ambient noise is blocked. The patient will be instructed to respond when they hear a tone by pressing a button. The quietest sounds that the patient can hear at each frequency is called their threshold. The results of the test are displayed visually in an audiogram, which shows the softest sounds the patient can hear at each frequency.
